Terika Harrell, LMHC, NCC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Training: Terika earned her B.S. in Brain and Cognitive Science (Neurobiology Concentration) and B.A. in Psychology at the University of Rochester (UR). She completed her M.S. in Community Mental Health Counseling at the University of Rochester: Warner School of Education. Terika’s internship experience was at URMC’s Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness and Rochester Community Mobile Crisis Team. Terika is currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor.

Clinical Experience: Terika has training with a particular focus using evidence-based therapies to treat Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Depression and other trauma-based therapies. Terika is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Terika has a growing specialty working with Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs: for example skin picking and hair pulling). Terika has enjoyed working with children, adolescents and adults who have anxiety, OCD, trauma, and substance use. In addition, Terika has intensive experience using exposure therapy to decrease anxiety in children.

Approach: Terika believes in accepting clients the way they are, and meeting them halfway in session, to help them meet their goals. Terika uses a creative approach with clients who experience severe anxiety and trauma.

Diversity and Inclusion: Terika believe that everyone is their unique self and always acknowledge the culture components that play a significant role in therapy. Knowing this she must be open to listening to the experience of all patients. 

Ages: Terika treats Adults, Adolescents, and Children as young as 4 years old.
